As a result of that, I would like to tell you my story….
As I grew up, through my teenage years, my mum was diagnosed with Bipolar Disorder. I did not know much about it or how it would affect me or my family. I did not know how to cope with all the problems which came with it. We had good days and bad. The worst point, I think, was when I found my mum watering the television in the living room. It was a very strange thing to see. Don’t you think? She was sectioned and was put in a Psychiatric Hospital so she could get better. This was hard to deal with but I got through it! It has gave me the experience of how to deal with the situation if I come across it again. I am now stronger!!
Did you know stress can cause Mental Health problems and Mental Health problems can cause Stress? There are different types of Mental Health from mood changes to schizophrenia etc.
- The main thing is the TALK.
- Ask “How are you?” They may say “I’m fine.”
- Don’t just end the conversation there.
- Ask them. “Are you really?”
- Then LISTEN to the person who is going through it. We all can help.
Everyone can suffer from Mental Health. It can affect anyone from children to adults.
Like I said before, everyone can suffer. Here are just a few celebrities that have opened up about this.
Olly Murs said “I felt like a Zombie” whilst going through Panic Attacks.
J K Rowling suffered from Severe Depression when she was younger.
Gwyneth Paltrow had Postpartum Depression after giving birth.
Prince Harry has even suffered from Anxiety after his mums’ death. He became an Ambassador for Mental Health and has formed “Heads Together.”
During the recent COVID pandemic it has brought Mental Health issues to the forefront. Many NHS staff have suffered the loss of many of their colleagues. They are exhausted after doing double shifts due to lack of staff. They have been living away from their families just to protect them. They may have felt like they were not valued? YOU ARE!! You all may have suffered from STRESS at one point during the Pandemic.
